Satellite and webcam views were cloudy for much of the week. Weak seismicity occasionally observed. + SHISHALDIN (Yellow/Advisory): No major changes. Satellite and webcam views were cloudy for much of the week. Steaming from the summit was observed in webcam images when clear. LP activity continues all week with wind often obscuring infrasound signals. + ANIAKCHAK (Unassigned): Aniakchak was taken to Unassigned on Tuesday, December 23 due to lack of seismic data following a power disruption at the receive facility in Port Heiden. + CNMI/AHYI (Yellow/Advisory): Discolored water observed in satellite data on Monday, December 22. Nothing else observed in satellite or Wake Island data the rest of the week. + RESUSPENDED ASH: There were a number of SIGMETS issued regarding resuspended ash at several volcanoes. There was some discussion on how best to handle these. Dave Schneider and Kristi Wallace will contact Dave at the Anchorage VAAC to coordinate and then there will likely be a duty scientist meeting to finalize. + OPERATIONS: Virtual servers hosting applications for HANS/VNS, Volcview, Ashcam, Ash3d and other systems failed Christmas Eve (due to physical drive failures). Information products are not posting to VNS starting Wednesday. The issue is being addressed. NET OPS/FIELDWORK: Ellie Boyce Color Code: Great Sitkin – All stations working. Shishaldin – All stations working except some SSBA data gaps. Network, Multi-Station and Array Outages: --Port Heiden (#aniakchak, #veniaminof (north side) - 2025-12-13 07:07:08 UTC Power outage is ONGOING. --Sand Point (SDPI array) - outage continues, partner-procured internet outage --Adak - power outage started 2025-12-27 04:00 UTC, ongoing. A ticket will be filed with TDX. Single Station Issues -Wrangell – WAZA continues to be very gappy. Tolsona sites continue to have minor data gaps at IRIS. AVO Winston copy complete. -Iliamna – ILLG and ILCB remain out, ILSW power getting low. -Shishaldin – SSBA/AV36 and ISNN/AV38 low power, GNSS powered off at both stations to conserve power for seismic data. -Westdahl – WECS seismic offline to conserve power for GNSS and radios. -Akutan -LVA out due to low voltage. -Okmok – OKAK and OKWE no telemetry. -Bogoslof – BOGO completely out last week, it was on back on briefly on 11/12 and 11/13. -Atka – KOSE/KONE data gaps last week, presumably rime ice at repeater. -Adak – Infrasound element 6 is not working and element 2 reported as having reversed polarity. -Little Sitkin -Gappy data and outages from LSNW and LSSA probably due to icing on LSSA radio antennas. Other -Special mention of Katmai, which has 100% data completeness for the last week of December. OPEN ANNOUNCEMENTS + ADGGS – Scott Crass • It is -45 degrees F in Fairbanks. Many folks are working from home. Dain Harmon made it into the office. • Several folks will be out on Friday. Scott will be out Friday and Monday. + UAF – Jessica Larsen • Jess attended AGU. She noted that there were a fair number of withdrawn talks and posters. She was able to attend the SD4Z meetings and reports that those projects are proceeding nicely. + AVO South – Matt Haney • David Fee is working on the draft agenda for the CoMeet. He requests that folks send him ideas/suggestions. • Reminder that the non-network field proposals are due Jan. 9. • Hans Schwaiger reported that he will be out of the office Wednesday of this week through next Tuesday. Tim Orr is covering his duty Remote Sensing shifts next Monday and Tuesday. • Also from Hans, Ash3D traffic is being routed through Anchorage servers following the server crash in California.
