Kamchatkan and Northern Kuriles Volcanic Activity

KVERT monitor 30 active volcanoes of Kamchatka and 6 active volcanoes of Northern Kuriles. Not all of these volcanoes had eruptions in historical time, however they are potentially active and therefore are of concern to aviation.

A moderate gas-steam activity of the volcano continues. Satellite data by KVERT showed a weak thermal anomaly over the volcano on 28 and 30 April and 02 May, the volcano was obscured by clouds in the other days of week.

A moderate eruptive activity of the volcano continues. Ash explosions up to 16,400-19,700 ft (5-6 km) a.s.l. could occur at any time. Ongoing activity could affect low-flying aircraft.
A moderate eruptive activity of the volcano continues. According to satellite data, a moderate explosive activity of the volcano renewed from 28 April. Ash explosions sent ash up to 5.5 km a.s.l., ash plumes drifted for about 150 km on 28 April and 02-03 May to the north-east and south-east from the volcano, respectively. A weak thermal anomaly over the volcano was noted on 03 May.

A moderate explosive activity of the volcano continues. According to visual data by volcanologists from Severo-Kurilsk, explosions sent ash up to 2.8 km a.s.l. on 01-03 May. Satellite data by KVERT showed the volcano was quiet or obscured by clouds.
