KVERT DAILY REPORT
Kamchatkan and Kuriles Volcanic Activity

October 16, 2023, all time is UTC

SHEVELUCH VOLCANO (CAVW #300270)
56.64 N, 161.32 E; Elevation 3283 m (10768 ft), the dome elevation ~2500 m (8200 ft)
Aviation Colour Code is ORANGE

An extrusive-effusive eruption of the volcano continues: a lava is extruding into the explosive crater of the Young Sheveluch, it is accompanied by powerful gas-steam activity, and sometimes an incandescence of the lava dome. In the area of the Karan dome, powerful gas-steam activity is also observed. Satellite data by KVERT showed a thermal anomaly over the volcano.

KLYUCHEVSKOY VOLCANO (CAVW #300260)
56.06 N, 160.64 E; Elevation 4750 m (15580 ft)
Aviation Colour Code is ORANGE

An explosive-effusive eruption of the volcano continues. Against the background of explosive activity of the Strombolian type (lava fountaining in the volcanic crater), the lava flows continue to effuse along the Apakhonchichsky chute on the south-eastern slope of the volcano. Satellite data by KVERT showed a large thermal anomaly over the volcano; an ash plume extended for 240 km to the north-east of the volcano.

BEZYMIANNY VOLCANO (CAVW #300250)
55.97 N, 160.6 E; Elevation 2882 m (9453 ft)
Aviation Colour Code is ORANGE

An extrusive eruption of the volcano continues. An activity of the volcano increase significantly from 19:00 UTC till 20:30 UTC on 16 October: large hot avalanches collapsed on the eastern slopes of the lava dome, the ash from which rose up to 3.5 km a.s.l., and the plume containing aerosole and ash moved to the northeast of the volcano. From 21:30 UTC on 16 October, hot avalanches continue to collapse on the eastern slopes of the lava dome, an ash plume is extending to the northeast of the volcano. Satellite data by KVERT showed an ash plume is extending about 70 km to the north-northeast of the volcano.

EBEKO VOLCANO (CAVW #290380)
50.69 N, 156.01 E; Elevation 1156 m (3792 ft)
Aviation Colour Code is ORANGE

A moderate explosive eruption of the volcano continues. Satellite data by KVERT showed the volcano was obscured by clouds.
