KVERT DAILY RELEASE, January 24, 2021
KVERT DAILY REPORT Kamchatkan and Kuriles Volcanic Activity January 24, 2021, all time is UTC SHEVELUCH VOLCANO (CAVW #300270) 56.64 N, 161.32 E; Elevation 3283 m (10768 ft), the dome elevation ~2500 m (8200 ft) Aviation Colour Code is ORANGE A growth of the lava dome continues, a strong fumarolic activity, and an incandescence of the dome blocks accompanies this process. Satellite data by KVERT showed a thermal anomaly over the volcano. KLYUCHEVSKOY VOLCANO (CAVW #300260) 56.06 N, 160.64 E; Elevation 4750 m (15580 ft) Aviation Colour Code is ORANGE A moderate explosive-effusive eruption of the volcano continues. The Strombolian and gas-steam activity were observed. A lava flow continues to effuse along Apakhonchich chute. Satellite data showed a large bright thermal anomaly in an area of the volcano. The intense effusing of lava flow from the summit volcanic crater, and the formation of the lateral break at an altitude of ~ 2200 m a.s.l., led to the collapse of large masses of pyroclastics from the sides of the Apakhonchich chute. The ash cloud rose up to 9.6 km a.s.l., and drifted for 80 km to the north, and north-east of the volcano. KARYMSKY VOLCANO (CAVW #300130) 54.05 N, 159.44 E; Elevation 1486 m (4874 ft) Aviation Colour Code is ORANGE A moderate activity of the volcano continues. Satellite data by KVERT showed a thermal anomaly over the volcano. EBEKO VOLCANO (CAVW #290380) 50.69 N, 156.01 E; Elevation 1156 m (3792 ft) Aviation Colour Code is ORANGE A moderate activity of the volcano continues. Satellite data showed the volcano was obscured by clouds. BEZYMIANNY VOLCANO (CAVW #300250) 55.97 N, 160.6 E; Elevation 2882 m (9453 ft) Aviation Colour Code is YELLOW A moderate activity of the volcano continues. Satellite data by KVERT showed a thermal anomaly over the volcano. SARYCHEV PEAK VOLCANO (CAVW #290240) 48.09 N, 153.2 E; Elevation 1496 m (4907 ft) Aviation Colour Code is YELLOW A moderate activity of the volcano continues. Satellite data by KVERT showed a thermal anomaly over the volcano. CONTACT INFORMATION: Duty scientist: Olga A. Girina, E-mail: girina@kscnet.ru Tel.
