Not all of these volcanoes had eruptions in historical time, however they are potentially active and therefore are of concern to aviation. A growth of the lava dome continues, a strong fumarolic activity sometimes with some amount of ash, and an incandescence of the eastern part of the lava dome and hot avalanches accompanie this process. A moderate explosive-effusive eruption of the volcano continues, the Strombolian and gas-steam activity with some amount of ash is observing. The lava flow continues to move along Apakhonchich chute on the southeastern volcanic flank. According to satellite data by KVERT, explosions sent ash up to 5 km a.s.l. on 23 and 25-26 October; ash clouds drifted for 75 km to the southeast, northwest and northeast of the volcano. According to visual data by volcanologists from Severo-Kurilsk, explosions sent ash up to 3.1 km a.s.l. on 22-23, 25-26 and 28-29 October; ash clouds drifted to the northeast, southeast, west and northwest of the volcano. Ongoing activity could affect low-flying aircraft. A moderate gas-steam activity of the volcano continues. The explosive eruption of the volcano occurred on 21 October; by 24 October, the ash clouds had dispersed; at present, the squeezing of the lava flow onto the northern flank of the dome is observed.
