Not all of these volcanoes had eruptions in historical time, however they are potentially active and therefore are of concern to aviation. Explosions sent ash up to 10-11 km a.s.l. from 22::35 UTC on 09 January; and ash cloud drifted for about 900 km to the east from the volcano on 09-11 January. A moderate eruptive activity of the volcano probably continues. According to visual data by volcanologists from Severo-Kurilsk, explosions sent ash up to 2.5 km a.s.l. last week.
