KVERT WEEKLY INFORMATION RELEASE 14-2019 Kamchatkan and Kuriles Volcanic Activity April 06, 2019, 04:29 UTC (April 06, 2019, 16:29 KST) KVERT monitor 30 active volcanoes of Kamchatka and 6 active volcanoes of Northern Kuriles. Not all of these volcanoes had eruptions in historical time, however they are potentially active and therefore are of concern to aviation. Ash explosions up to 32,800-49,200 ft (10-15 km) a.s.l. could occur at any time. Ongoing activity could affect international and low-flying aircraft. A growth of the lava dome continues (a viscous lava blocks extrude out on the northern part of it), a strong fumarolic activity and an incandescence of the dome blocks and hot avalanches accompanies this process. Ash explosions up to 13,100-19,700 ft (4-6 km) a.s.l. could occur at any time. Ongoing activity could affect low-flying aircrafts. A moderate eruptive activity of the volcano continues. A moderate explosive activity of the volcano continues. According to visual data by volcanologists from Severo-Kurilsk, explosions sent ash up to 3.2 km a.s.l. on 29-31 March, and 01 and 04 April; an ashfall was noted at Severo-Kurilsk on 31 March.
