Not all of these volcanoes had eruptions in historical time, however they are potentially active and therefore are of concern to aviation. Ash explosions up to 32,800-49,200 ft (10-15 km) a.s.l. could occur at any time. Ongoing activity could affect international and low-flying aircraft. A growth of the lava dome continues, a strong fumarolic activity, and an incandescence of the lava dome and hot avalanches accompanie this process. Video and satellite data showed a strong explosive event occured on 29 December. The explosions sent ash up to 7 km a.s.l., and an ash cloud drifted for 250 km to the west of the volcano. Ash explosions up to 23,000-26,200 ft (7-8 km) a.s.l. could occur at any time. Ongoing activity could affect international and low-flying aircraft. A moderate explosive-effusive eruption of the volcano continues, the Strombolian and sometimes Vulcanian activity is observing. The lava flow continues to move along Kozyrevsky chute on the southern volcanic flank. The ash explosions up to 16,400-23,000 ft (5-7 km) a.s.l. could occur at any time. Ongoing activity could affect low-flying aircraft. A moderate eruptive activity of the volcano continues. Ash explosions up to 19,700 ft (6 km) a.s.l. could occur at any time. Ongoing activity could affect low-flying aircraft and airport of Severo-Kurilsk. A moderate explosive eruption of the volcano continues. According to visual data by volcanologists from Severo-Kurilsk, explosions sent ash up to 3.1 km a.s.l. on 25 and 30-31 December; ash clouds drifted to the different directions of the volcano.
