Not all of these volcanoes had eruptions in historical time, however they are potentially active and therefore are of concern to aviation. The extrusive-effusive eruption of the volcano continues: a lava is extruded out in the explosive crater of the Young Sheveluch, it is accompanied by powerful gas-steam activity, and sometimes an incandescence of the lava dome. A powerful gas-steam activity is also observed at the area of the Karan dome. A danger of ash explosions up to 10 km (32,800 ft) a.s.l. remains. Ongoing activity could affect international and low-flying aircraft. The summit explosive-effusive eruption of the volcano continued all week. Against the background of explosive activity of the Strombolian type (lava fountaining in the volcanic crater up to 1000 m), the lava flows continued to effuse along the Apakhonchichsky, Krestovsky, and Kozyrevsky chutes on the eastern and western slopes of the volcano. Lava flows in the chutes melt buried snowfields and glaciers, and as result of phreatic explosions, old pyroclastic material collapsed from chutes sides and volcanic slopes. On 31 October, the activity of the volcano intensified and developed into the paroxysmal stage of the explosive eruption with the rise of the eruptive cloud up to 14 km a.s.l. The weakening of the volcano's activity was noted at approximately 23:00 UTC on 01 November, but the removal of ash up to 11 km a.s.l. has continued on 02 November. Satellite data by KVERT showed a large thermal anomaly over the volcano all week; ash plumes rose up to 14 km a.s.l. By 20:00 UTC! on 02 November, the height of the ash plume had decreased to 6.5 km a.s.l., the plume was moving north-northeast of the volcano. Ash explosions up to 6 km (19,700 ft) a.s.l. could occur at any time. Ongoing activity could affect low-flying aircraft and airport of Severo-Kurilsk. A moderate explosive activity of the volcano continues. According to visual data from Severo-Kurilsk, explosions sent ash up to 2.6 km a.s.l., and ash clouds drifted to the northeast of the volcano. The effusive eruption of the volcano (extruding a viscous lava flow onto the slopes of the dome) continues, it is accompanied by the collapse of hot avalanches along the eastern slope of the lava dome and a gas-steam activity of the volcano.
