Not all of these volcanoes had eruptions in historical time, however they are potentially active and therefore are of concern to aviation. Ash explosions up to 32,800-49,200 ft (10-15 km) a.s.l. could occur at any time. Ongoing activity could affect international and low-flying aircraft. A growth of the lava dome continues, a strong fumarolic activity sometimes with some amount of ash, and an incandescence of the dome blocks and hot avalanches accompanies this process. Ash explosions up to 16,400-23,000 ft (5-7 km) a.s.l. could occur at any time. Ongoing activity could affect low-flying aircraft. A moderate gas-steam with some amount of ash activity of the volcano continues. Strombolian activity of the volcano was observed on 11-12 December. Satellite data showed a weak thermal anomaly above the crater on 05, 07 and 11-12 December; on 11 December, ash plume on the height about 4.5 km a.s.l. extended for 30 km to the southeast of the volcano. A moderate eruptive activity of the volcano continues. According to visual data by volcanologists from Severo-Kurilsk, explosions sent ash up to 4 km a.s.l. all week; ash clouds drifted to the eastern directions of the volcano. Ashfalls were noted at Severo-Kurilsk on 10-12 December.
