VONA/KVERT (Bezymianny 2019-69)
(1) VOLCANO OBSERVATORY NOTICE FOR AVIATION (VONA) (2) Issued:20190316/0927Z (3) Volcano:Bezymianny (CAVW #300250) (4) Current aviation colour code:ORANGE (5) Previous aviation colour code:orange (6) Source:KVERT (7) Notice Number:2019-69 (8) Volcano Location:N 55 deg 58 min E 160 deg 35 min (9) Area:Kamchatka, Russia (10) Summit Elevation:9452.96 ft (2882 m)(11) Volcanic Activity Summary:A gas-steam activity of the volcano sometimes with some amount of ash continues. A gas-seam plume with ash on the height about 4.5-5.5 km a.s.l. continues to drift to the east from the volcano. According to seismic data by KB GS RAS (http://www.emsd.ru/~ssl/monitoring/), powerful explosive eruption of Bezymianny began at 17:11 UTC on 15 March 2019. According to video data by KVERT, explosions sent ash up to 15 km a.s.l. at 17:30 UTC on 15 March, and a large ash cloud began to drifting to the north-east from the volcano. Ashfalls occurred at Ust'-Kamchatsk probably from 18:50 till 19:30 UTC on 15 March. After powerful explosions up to 15 km a.s.l., a strong explosive eruption of the volcano continued, but explosions sent ash up to 5-6 km a.s.l., and ash plume with more concentration of ash by comparison with first large explosions drifted to the east from the volcano. Probably from 23:30 UTC on 15 March ashfalls began at Nikolskoe (Bering Island, Russia) and weak ashfalls continued possibly till 06:00 UTC on 16 March. Ash clouds continues to drift to the east from the volcano. KVERT continues to monitor Bezymianny volcano.\n\nActivity of Bezymianny volcano continues! . Ongoing its activity could affect international and low-flying aircraft.
