Hello John -
We don't really use the terms "active" and "inactive" - but rather group them by last known eruptive activity. So we have 52 historically active volcanoes, about 100 volcanoes that have been active in the last 10,000 years (notably, Fourpeaked used to be in this group but moved to the historically active group in 2006 - some volcanoes can have a very long repose time), and about 150 volcanoes active in the last two million years. AVO does not keep track of those volcanic features in Alaska that are even older.

As you can see, depicting them all on one map is a challenging layout task.
