Hello Michael - Everything I know about that event is on this page: https://www.avo.alaska.edu/volcanoes/activity.php?volcname=Carlisle&eruptio… As Pete and Scott were climbing Cleveland, and observed steaming at Carlisle, it's unlikely that they were mistaking steaming at Cleveland for being at Carlisle. The Carlisle eruption was reported by Coast Guard pilots, who are typically pretty good with their navigation and landmark names. It remains a little uncertain, but this is the best information we have. It is really great to be able to add it to our information. Please also thank 'leelaht' for us.
