Hi Lela,
This time of year, at many volcanoes throughout Alaska, more black ash begins to be visible at the summits of the volcanoes, due in most part to melting snow.
Recent fieldwork at Shishaldin this past month has allowed us to repair seismic instrumentation and fix the web camera. Background level seismicity and minor steaming continues.
No anomalous activity has been observed in several clear satellite images of Shishaldin since moderately elevated surface temperatures were detected on January 13, 2016.
Airwaves associated with low-level explosive degassing have not been detected in infrasound data since Feb. 7.
We will continue to monitor our data streams and improved webcam images to effectively warn of increased activity.

I looked tonight at the Recent Images, and the latest one is #96921 of minor steaming at Shishaldin on July 1. I decided to look at the webcam there for today. Only one frame, #355, taken at 10:40.05 today, shows Shishaldin clearly. It looks as if there is more black ash showing on top of the snow than on July 1. Can you please look at that frame and see? It would be good to understand if Shishaldin put out some ash this week.
