Hi Hazel - There is no formal volunteer program at AVO. If someone is working in an area that you are highly motivated to volunteer in (see our staff pages here: https://www.avo.alaska.edu/about/staff.php?mode=alpha ) you can reach out to them and ask about volunteering, as individual AVO staff members do informally work with volunteers from time to time, especially volunteers who live in Anchorage or Fairbanks. Hi Dore - Redoubt has been visible from Anchorage in recent days. Under certain atmospheric conditions, Redoubt's typical fumaroles and cooling 2009 lava dome produce steam plumes visible from Anchorage. Redoubt remains at Aviation Color Code Green and Volcanic Alert Level Normal. Please reach out to Kristi Wallace (kwallace(a)usgs.gov), who manages the Alaska Tephra Lab, as she may have information or ideas that are helpful to your project.
