Hello Padee - I think your view of Redoubt will be more weather-dependent than location-dependent on the Kenai. Helicopters and fixed-wing each come with their own sets of advantages and disadvantages. Probably the best thing for you to do would be to chat with the air-taxi services on the Kenai - they are used to doing "volcano air tours" for people. Lake Clark National Park has a page here: http://www.nps.gov/lacl/planyourvisit/directions.htm Thanks, Cheryl -------- Padee McCrery wrote: Hello again wonderful folks. I am making a trip to Alaska again this Sept. I am looking for ideas on how to best view/visit Redoubt... I want to stay where I can also have a good view (if not raining) Would like to fly by or visit. Is it best by helicopter of airplane. What are the options. Is it best in Kenai, Kasilof Clam Gultch? or how to visit lake Clark? I know you arent tour companies, so sorry if I am out of line in asking. thanks for all your work and camera shots and updates.. best always, Padee McCrery -- Cheryl Cameron Geologist, Alaska Volcano Observatory Alaska Division of Geological & Geophysical Surveys voice: 907-451-5012 fax: 907-451-5050
