Hi Alex - I think you're asking about Bower's Ridge. It's not connected at all to modern volcanism, and most of it is pretty old - about 30 million years. https://pubs.geoscienceworld.org/gsa/geology/article-abstract/40/8/687/13095... (I do not have this article, but the abstract is informative). Thanks, cheryl -------- Alex Gimarc wrote: Howdy - Dumb question of the day: Can you point me to anything that discusses the "scorpion's tail" undersea rise curving to the north and west of the Aleutians in the vicinity of Amchitka / Little Sitkin / Semisopochnoi / Kiska Islands? Just knowing what the darn thing is called would be a help. It is a rather odd shape and was wondering if it was connected to the activity around Sitkin / Semisopochnoi. Thank you for your assistance. Cheers - -- Cheryl Cameron Geologist, Alaska Volcano Observatory Alaska Division of Geological & Geophysical Surveys voice: 907-451-5012 fax: 907-451-5050
