Hi Rebecca, The Alaska Volcano Observatory is a dispersed group of scientists with offices in Fairbanks and Anchorage. If you are in Anchorage, the Alaska Volcano Observatory offices at the U.S. Geological Survey have recently moved and they are not quite setup for tours at that location. If you are in Fairbanks, you might consider contacting the Geophysical Institute at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. They have summer tours available: Call 907-474-6166 for information, or email uso@asf.alaska.edu. Reservations required for groups of 10 or more. June 6 - Aug. 22, 2012: Wednesdays, 2:30 p.m., Alaska Satellite Facility; 3 p.m., Alaska Volcano Observatory. No tours July 4. -Janet -------- Rebecca Bleeker wrote: Hello, I teach science through a homeschool science co-op. My classes are working on a study of volcanoes. We would love to have a field trip to visit the AVO. Our group would include 11 elementary-age students and 4 adults. If it would be possible for us to visit, we are available anytime on the following dates: Mon 6/4; Tue 6/5; and Wed 6/6; or Thu 6/7. Who can we contact to ask about setting up a field trip? Thank you for your time and service!
