Hello Robert - Can you describe these rocks? "Washing ashore" doesn't seem likely except in the case of pumice, which can drift around for years after an eruption. You can email the photos to me, although it is unlikely that we would be able to pinpoint a source from a photograph. (But we're curious!) Thank you, Cheryl Cameron cheryl.cameron@alaska.gov -------- Robert OBrien wrote: I have photos of volcano rocks that we find on the Bering Sea beach of Hooper Bay. I always wondered where they came from as they seem to wash ashore. It's just out of curiousity that I ask and it might be interesting to know where they came from and if that same source may be a threat. Thank you! :) Robert OBrien -- Cheryl Cameron Geologist, Alaska Volcano Observatory Alaska Division of Geological & Geophysical Surveys voice: 907-451-5012 fax: 907-451-5050
