Hello Lynne - Are you asking if ash from an eruption in Alaska will reach Oregon? The vast majority of Alaskan eruptions will produce no appreciable ashfall in the lower 48. Fine, dispersed ash at higher altitudes is sometimes a problem for air transport (most recently, Kasatochi 2008 eruption caused some flight delays in WA), but unless we've got a Katmai 1912-sized eruption (the largest eruption in the 20th century), I wouldn't expect an Alaskan eruption to produce ashfall in OR. There are also volcanoes in Washington and Oregon - see the CVO website for more information on them: http://volcanoes.usgs.gov/observatories/cvo/ Thank you, Cheryl -------- lynne ryan wrote: will ash fall in beaverton oregon -- Cheryl Cameron Geologist, Alaska Volcano Observatory Alaska Division of Geological & Geophysical Surveys voice: 907-451-5012 fax: 907-451-5050
