Hello Glenn - Here is a link to those items in our bibliography that contain information about Iliamna: https://www.avo.alaska.edu/volcanoes/volcbib.php?volcname=Iliamna
From Miller, in Volcanoes of North America and Canada (edited by Wood and Kienle), 1990:
"Cone-building activity began prior to Wisconsin glaciation [the glacial maximum was about 20,000 years ago] and probably has occurred within the past million years. Regional tephrochronology study of the Cook Inlet region as not identified any major Holocene [about the last 10,000 years] tephra with Iliamna volcano although more recent work suggests at least one mildly explosive Holocene event. Historic activity other than steam emissions has not been documented for Iliamna volcano. Two large fumarolic areas occur at 2,600-2,750 m elevation on the south and east sides of the ice-capped summit." Hawaiian volcanoes and Alaskan volcanoes are quite different from each other, in most parameters that I think about. Hope this is helpful, Cheryl -------- Glenn Pearston wrote: Hi, I was trying to find out the approximate age of the volcano Iliamna (the others too) but am not having any luck. Could you recommend a site or location that would have such info? I am looking to compare the volcanos here with those at the other end of the "ring of fire", Hawaii.
