Hello Jade - AVO does not have a formal volunteer or internship program. Occasionally, very motivated individuals contact specific members of AVO whose interests align with theirs and arrange for unpaid volunteer positions. Our staff information is on this page: https://www.avo.alaska.edu/about/staff.php HVO does have a formal volunteer program: http://hvo.wr.usgs.gov/volunteer/ And we have nothing but good words to say about the Katmai/Kamchatka field school: http://www.uaf.edu/geology/academics/international-volcanology/ Best wishes on your studies, Cheryl Cameron -------- Jade Candice Greve wrote: Hi there AVO team I'm currently in my honours year (4th year) of my BSc degree in Geology at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University in South Africa, with undergrad majors in Geology and Physics. During December 2013 and January 2014 I spent two months interning at the Colima Volcano Observatory in mexico. I was wondering if there were any possible opportunities at AVO for a volunteer position or internship position for next year(2015) with relation to geology, geophysics or volcanology? Any information you have or any opportunities would be much appreciated!!
