Hi David - There are no active volcanoes near the feature you describe, so this is not our bailiwick. In addition, there are many possible reasons for dead trees. You might try asking the Mat-Su Borough office. Thank you, cheryl -------- David Weiss wrote: I'm coming up to AK next summer to prospect in the Little Willow Creek valley. I noticed in Google maps that near the mouth of the valley, there are a couple of patches of what look to be dead trees at the treeline. I haven't noticed these before in other aerial photos. They are in township 21N 2W Seward sections 12 and/or 13 on either side of the creek. Other trees around them seem to be OK. If this is a gas seep, this would be a potential threat to my party, although we would be further up the valley. Can you check it out, and get back to me? -- Cheryl Cameron Geologist, Alaska Volcano Observatory Alaska Division of Geological & Geophysical Surveys voice: 907-451-5012 fax: 907-451-5050
