Hi Ethan - There is some geothermal energy potential in Alaska. Although the areas of geothermal energy and areas of permafrost may overlap in places, I do not have an easy representation of those areas together. Here is a list of all Alaska Division of Geological & Geophysical Surveys publication database entries with the word "geothermal" in the title. You can download most of these documents and maps for free. http://dggs.alaska.gov/pubs/pubs?quadlist=&title=Geothermal&author=&keyword=&keywordWildcard=all&quadrangle=&pubnumber=&publisher=All&year=&startyear=&endyear=&reqtype=Search+Pubs Thank you, Cheryl -------- Ethan Williams wrote: is there geothermal energy beneath the permafrost in Alaska, if so where? -- Cheryl Cameron Geologist, Alaska Volcano Observatory Alaska Division of Geological & Geophysical Surveys voice: 907-451-5012 fax: 907-451-5050
