Hello Ron - The Alaska Volcano Observatory monitors only volcanoes in Alaska. For a comprehensive look at volcanoes in the entire United States, you can visit the USGS Volcano Hazards Program (https://volcanoes.usgs.gov/index.html) and the other Observatory websites (linked on the VHP page). In Alaska, Veniaminof is currently at aviation color code Orange, and is located on the Alaska Peninsula. The other volcanoes in Alaska at elevated alert levels are in the Aleutian Islands. Geothermal potential has been explored at several Alaska sites, but has not come to fruition. AVO monitors volcanoes to predict and record eruptive activity, and to mitigate volcanic hazards to life and property. Thank you, cheryl -------- Ron Segal wrote: Which mainland located volcanoes currently have the most low-level activity? Also, are there, currently, any attempts to "harvest", or active geo-thermal "farms"? -- Cheryl Cameron Geologist, Alaska Volcano Observatory Alaska Division of Geological & Geophysical Surveys voice: 907-451-5012 fax: 907-451-5050
