Hello Charlen - I am not aware of any biological positive health impacts from volcanism, other than things it sounds like you've already found - volcanic products break down and can form very fertile soil, the heat from volcanic systems can be harnessed for geothermal energy. Large volcanic eruptions may have a cooling effect on climate. I am not aware of any volcanic products being used in medicine or for healing. Hannicke and at the moment I go to the 12th grade of the Friedrich-Ebert Gymnasium in Berlin. For my graduation, which I will complete this year, I have to give a presentation on volcanism in Iceland. I have already done a lot of research, especially on the Internet, but unfortunately I can't find anything more precise on a certain point. . . That's why I was hoping you might be able to help me out a little. My problem question of the presentation refers to the biological aspect, whether there are positive aspects in addition to all the aspects harmful to human health. I have read among other things that there are certain sources which are supposed to cure certain skin diseases. However, I am looking for positive aspects that are directly related to the volcano, such as the resulting gases. Are there any possibilities to use these e. g. in medicine, for certain medications or general healing processes? I would really appreciate it if you could help me! Thank you in advance, Yours sincerely Charlen-Dali Hannicke --
