Hi Ed, Anchorage is very well-instrumented for seismic monitoring! You can visit the Alaska Earthquake Center website and look at their map and turn on "seismic stations" to see all the instruments in and around Anchorage: https://earthquake.alaska.edu/earthquakes. So no worries, AEC is keeping a close eye on earthquakes throughout Alaska. Also, earthquakes related to volcanic activity are generally extremely small. The largest one we've seen at Spurr so far in this year is around magnitude 2, which is small enough that you most likely wouldn't even feel it even if you were close by. Hope that helps! Abbey Nastan AVO Staff ----------------------------------------------------------------- I am writing this with some worry about possible earthquake in or around Anchorage while spurr is starting to wake up. What is the possibilities of putting Anchorage on a watch list. Just my opinion. Thank you. Ed.
