Re: volcano activity
Hello Marlene - The ash cloud prediction uses our prevailing wind direction- to the east. Homer occasionally experiences trace amounts of ash from Cook Inlet volcanoes - most recently during the 2009 eruption of Redoubt. During this eruption, ash impacts to communities were relatively minor and more of a distraction and nuisance than a hazard, although economic losses from disruptions to airline travel were significant. The recent eruptions of Shishaldin and Cleveland have not impacted the Kenai Peninsula. Hope this is helpful, Cheryl Cameron -------- marlene rowland wrote: Aloha I was studying your website. Why does the ash cloud prediction move southeast? I'm looking at whether to move to Homer in the future but I have concerns about volcanic activity and plate tectonics causing earthquakes there.
