Re: Pavlov activity on Wednesday 8/26/2021
Hello John, There was one pilot report of two brief and small ash emissions at Pavlof on August 25. Pavlof had numerous small explosions detected by our monitoring networks on the 24th and 25th. Thank you, Cheryl Cameron I have read the activity reports for Pavlov on 8/25/21 and 8/26/21. It seems no ash emissions were seen by AVO on 8/25, but it was written on 8/26 that small aircraft reported sight of ash emissions to AVO on 8/25. My question is were the sightings of ash emissions from Pavlov reported by multiple aircraft on 8/25? Did Ravn Alaska report sight of the ash emissions? I was traveling on Ravn Alaska on 8/25, and the pilots announced they could see ash emissions coming from Pavlov and that they were flowing westward toward Sand Point, but Pavlov was nowhere in sight. We were way high in elevation above cloud cover and all the way on the north side of the Alaska Peninsula, Pavlov was not visible. The weather station in Sand Point had received no word of ash emissions that day and 4 cargo aircraft landed in Sand Point throughout the day on 8/25.
