Hello Marianne - The size and visibility of steam plumes is mostly dependent on atmospheric conditions. Both Redoubt and Iliamna have steam plumes (Redoubt's from the cooling 2009 lava dome and Iliamna has some of the longest-lived fumaroles that we know of in Alaska - even Captain Cook saw them!) Thank you for the report, though - we appreciate eyes and cameras on the ground. -Cheryl -------- MarianneSchlegelmilch wrote: I see a tall white plume over the bluff in the direction of Iliamna or Redoubt. I saw it about 2:15 today. i am in Homer. -- Cheryl Cameron Geologist, Alaska Volcano Observatory Alaska Division of Geological & Geophysical Surveys voice: 907-451-5012 fax: 907-451-5050
