Hello Dean - Sorry for the late reply - although I've been out of the office for the holidays, AVO continues to monitor Redoubt (and other Alaska volcanoes) around-the-clock. There have been some tectonic earthquakes near Redoubt - this is a normal part of the Pacific Plate subducting under the North America Plate and does not mean that there is a change in the magma underneath Redoubt. Seismic and fumarolic activity at Redoubt remain at GREEN/NORMAL. AVO is always closely watching Redoubt. Thank you, Cheryl Cameron -------- Dean connolly wrote: Recent earthquake 4.5 , 43 klm from redoubt volcano. Siesmo shows low level activity prior and some magma movement and subsequent strata cracking. Is it possible this earthquake has ruptured a rift . It is early to tell but I suspect we need to closely watch -- Cheryl Cameron Geologist, Alaska Volcano Observatory Alaska Division of Geological & Geophysical Surveys voice: 907-451-5012 fax: 907-451-5050
