Hello Scott - It looks like a meterological cloud to us - there was a weather system in that area yesterday that had potential to create atmospheric clouds off topographic highs. This is a common phenomenon but can be quite convincing as a fake volcanic eruption. As a further bit of evidence, the mountains between Juneau and Haines are not volcanic. Thank you, Cheryl -------- Scott Dybdahl wrote: I saw a cloud coming off the top of a mountain and it looked like a smoke stack. The wind was blowing it in a north direction, and you could see the cloud coming off the mountain top was changing as the wind pushed it. Where it came off the top of the mountain didnt change. Curious to find out if anyone has reported this. The mountain i saw was located half way in-between Juneau and Haines, located on the left side of the channel if you were heading up to Haines. Thank you for your time. -- Cheryl Cameron Geologist, Alaska Volcano Observatory Alaska Division of Geological & Geophysical Surveys voice: 907-451-5012 fax: 907-451-5050
