Re: Internships or Jobs
Hello Amanda - AVO doesn't have a formal internship program, and our only job vacancy right now is for an object-oriented programmer (via the State of Alaska, in Fairbanks). Occasionally, students have created their own volunteer programs at AVO, but these volunteer agreements generally do not involve fieldwork, and the students typically attend school in Anchorage or Fairbanks. If you're planning to be in Anchorage or Fairbanks, let me know. You could consider the Kamchatka-Katmai field school next summer - it's a really great experience: http://www.uaf.edu/geology/academics/international-volcanology/ HVO does have a formal volunteer program: http://hvo.wr.usgs.gov/volunteer/ Best wishes on your studies, Cheryl Cameron -------- Amanda Ausman wrote: Hello! I have a Bachelor of Science in Earth Sciences with a minor in Physics, and I have been looking for (and waiting to hear back from some) geology jobs- specifically, I want to work with volcanoes. I know someone who has been working for the USGS studying volcanoes, and he said to e-mail around to see if any help was needed. I at least want to gain experience. I hope to hear back soon!
