Re: Cleveland - Four Mountains
Hello Tanya - Thank you very much for sending us this information and your observations - it is really important and good to know, especially as our seismic stations that monitor Cleveland aren't transmitting data right now. About how long did the time of ash emission last? If it is clear again today and possible to take a picture (using binoculars sometimes works), we would be grateful. Many thanks already for sending us this report, especially for details of height and direction. If you ever need an immediate response from AVO, you can always call (907) 786-7497 or (907) 563-5004. Thank you, cheryl -------- Tanya Lestenkof wrote: I live in Nikolski, about forty or fifty miles from Cleveland. Late afternoon a plume of smoke, and possibly ash, was steadily coming out of the volcano moving in a northerly direction at about 7000 feet, dissipating after 10 to 15 miles. My brother-in-law said it looked like the lava bubble burst this afternoon, and some of cone might have disintegrated. It’s hard to tell accurately through binoculars at this distance though. It was clear all day and there was no plume this morning and early afternoon. Just an FYI.
