Re: Location of Redoubt Volcano
Hello Ginnie - I'm not sure which location you're questioning - the drift river valley is north of Redoubt - but perhaps this index map can help clear things up for you: https://www.avo.alaska.edu/images/image.php?id=17692 Thank you, Cheryl -------- Ginnie Gidlund wrote: "there might be something fishy here..." On the map from Alaskan Volcano Observatury the Redoubt volcano is placed BETWEEN: Drift River Valley and North Fork, and thereby is defenitly south of the Drift River Valley. Se: www.avo.alaska.edu/omages/dbimages/display/1109377578_3_17.jpg I stand confused. Webcamera "HUT" is placed to the north of the volcano and has given me some extrardinary beautiful pictures of the steaming volcano as have the pictures taken on the recogosing flights around the volcano and the landing sites of the helicopters close to the volcano. I think these pictures clearly showes what the staff from AVO and me thik they were on the correct spot wich is placed south of the Drift River Valley. Look through the many pictures published by AVO on the damages in DRV by the oubreake in 2009. And please tell me what I see every day I visit the AVO-site and how the damages to DRV occured from a volcano placed to the north of the DRV. Please.
