Hello Vivian - Previous, similar small eruptions in the mid 80s and 90s also resulted in noticeable rumbling and light tremors felt in Chignik and Perryville (mainly Perryville).
From both satellite and seismic data, the current activity of the volcano has not changed, although current atmospheric conditions may be transmitting more sound to Perryville.
At this point, we're watching Veni carefully and do not anticipate danger to Perryville. Thank you, Cheryl -------- Vivian Kosbruk wrote: With Veniaminof volcano rumbling so loud, and you can feel your house rattle in certain areas, is this a worry for the people here in Perryville? -- Cheryl Cameron Geologist, Alaska Volcano Observatory Alaska Division of Geological & Geophysical Surveys voice: 907-451-5012 fax: 907-451-5050
