Re: Industrial Placement Year
Hi Alfie - Sorry, AVO does not offer a volunteer program like HVO. There are a few graduate students at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, and some undergraduate students at University of Alaska Anchorage who are partially supported by AVO and work on AVO projects. We do highly recommend the International Volcanology Field School course for students who want to pursue a career in volcanology: https://www.uaf.edu/geology/academics/international-volcanology/ Best wishes on your studies, Cheryl -------- Alfie Mortimer wrote: Dear Sir/Madam My name is Alfie Mortimer and I am a current 2nd year student at Manchester Metropolitan University studying Physical Geography BSc. I have a keen interest in volcanology and would really like to pursue this during a placement year at the Alaskan Volcano Observatory. I know this is something offered by the HVO but due to seismic activity in the area between April 30th and August the 4th they are now unable to accept any applications into the near future. However I would like to know if this is something you offer at the AVO and if so whether it is purely on a volunteer basis. If you do not offer this do you know of anywhere in the area that offers this sort of placement. Thankyou in advance for reading this email.
