Hello Randy - Since the middle of January 2012 there have been a sequence of earthquakes with several greater than magnitude 2. It is common to have earthquake swarms in the vicinity of Iliamna and the ongoing activity is being closely monitored by AVO seismologists. Thank you for your interest, Cheryl -------- Randy Gilmour wrote: I've been following all the earthquake activity under Iliamna and I noticed that your website has the volcano alert activity alert as green. Is this normal for this volcano and an eruption is not imminent. Because it's looks a lot like the activity just before Mt. St Helen's eruption, and it look like Iliamna is filling it's magma chamber and it's ready to blow. -- Cheryl Cameron Geologist, Alaska Volcano Observatory Alaska Division of Geological & Geophysical Surveys voice: 907-451-5012 fax: 907-451-5050
