Hi Cheryl... we are going to be there on August 7th and leave on August 9th. We have flights/heli from SEA->ANC->DUT->Akun->Akutan booked already. So we could be given anything at any of those stops. I did notice that the existing webcam was waaaay out east on the south part of the island and that would be the one place we probably couldn't get to due to time+distance. Our plan is to hike out the west side of the bay, down over the saddle to the hot springs bay lowland, then traverse south-west up the valley to the sloping approach of to the east side of the crater. With technology these days, I'm assuming that we might be able to pack a fairly compact setup of a webcam, battery solar panel and housings to get something working if it will be all satellite or cell. My friend and I are traveling back to the Akutan valcano which we climbed in 1993 when on the M/V Sea Alaska... we are going from Seattle->Anchorage->Dutch->Akun->Akutan and will be hiking to the east rim from the Village. If there is anything that you would like done up there as far as checking on or fixing any of the webcams (I notice the Akutan Webcam image is quite old)..
