Re: Getting Involved with AVO
Hi Mark - AVO is composed of three agencies - the USGS, the University of Alaska Fairbanks Geophysical Institute, and the State of Alaska Division of Geological and Geophysical Surveys. If there's an open position at AVO, it would be advertised on the appropriate partner's HR website. I don't currently know of any open positions, although that might change in the near future. Thanks, Cheryl -------- Mark Greathouse wrote: I wish to get involved with the work done by the Alaska Volcano Observatory. I've got a BS in Geological Engineering from Colorado School of Mines, as well as experience working as a field engineer intern based out of Anchorage, AK. During this time, I worked with UNAVCO to maintain a network of GPS stations used to analyze tectonic movement. I've traveled to several volcanoes in Alaska, including Augustine, Slope Mountain, and Iliamna. I'm interested in playing an active role in the Alaska Volcano Observatory; how do you suggest that I go about acquiring a position? -- Cheryl Cameron Geologist, Alaska Volcano Observatory Alaska Division of Geological & Geophysical Surveys voice: 907-451-5012 fax: 907-451-5050
