Hello Nick - We do, at times, have volunteers, but they have to provide their own housing, transportation, and food. Additionally, much of what we do in January is not glamorous in any way. If this still sounds good to you, then the thing to do is check out our staff page and find a person in a discipline that interests you and contact that person directly. Best wishes on your studies! -Cheryl -------- Nick Williams wrote: Hello, I am contacting you to ask if the AVO ever hosts volunteers? I am a geology student a DePauw University in Greencastle, IN and am looking for something educational and fun for Winter Term of 2014. At DePauw, Winter Term is a three week period in January in which students can travel, complete internships, take out of the ordinary classes on campus, etc... To me, volunteering at a volcano observatory not only seems enjoyable, but also very valuable to my education as a geologist. I would love to hear more about the AVO and any opportunities it might have for me to volunteer my time!
