Re: Imuruk Lake/ Lava Lake
Hi Nick - Apologies for making it look like the page goes to "Imuruk Lake" - we actually mean the "Imuruk Lake Volcanic Field" which covers quite a large area of the Seward Peninsula. This publication contains more information on it: https://www.avo.alaska.edu/downloads/reference.php?citid=516 I'll try to clear up some of the name of the lava field vs name of the lake confusion on our website. Thank you, Cheryl -------- Nick Treinen wrote: Just wanted to point out that Imuruk Lake is mislabeled on the map. What is labeled as Imuruk Lake is actually Lava Lake. Imuruk Lake is the larger lake 20 miles to the East of Lava Lake. The lava field extends between the two. https://www.avo.alaska.edu/volcanoes/volcinfo.php?volcname=Imuruk+Lake -- Cheryl Cameron Geologist, Alaska Volcano Observatory Alaska Division of Geological & Geophysical Surveys voice: 907-451-5012 fax: 907-451-5050
