Hello - I'm not sure where in Alaska you are visiting. Most Alaskan communities are not very close to a volcano. To get very close to one usually involves chartering an aircraft or a boat. On a clear day, you can easily see Redoubt, Spurr, Iliamna, and even Augustine (albeit from quite a distance!) from Anchorage. Flightseeing tours of some volcanoes are also available from local aviation companies - especially those based out of Homer. The Wrangells are easily viewed from the Glennallen area. Sitka offers nice views of Edgecumbe. Another popular flightseeing region is the Katmai area. You might find the map on this page (of volcanoes and communities) helpful. https://www.avo.alaska.edu/map/ Cheryl -------- AVS GUPTA wrote: I along with my family are visiting Alaska from 2 aug. to 8 aug. we will love to see the volcano how can we do it and whom to contact and where -- Cheryl Cameron Geologist, Alaska Volcano Observatory Alaska Division of Geological & Geophysical Surveys voice: 907-451-5012 fax: 907-451-5050
