Hello James - Thank you for the email of your observations! We do know that it is erupting, but eyewitness observations are very helpful. About how far down the flank would you estimate the flow went? If you have any pictures or video you can share, we would love to see them. You can send them to me at cheryl.cameron@alaska.gov . Thank you again! cheryl -------- M/V Tustumena Chiefmate wrote: Good morning AVO, My name is James Pearson, Chiefmate aboard the Alaska State Ferry Tustumena. We were transiting from Sand Point to Chignik this morning (9-10-18) and witnessed a spectacular sight. Veniaminof was launching lava and had a big lava flow running down its' side. I came to the bridge about 0130 and the mate on watch was witnessing this for about an hour or more. I'm sure your team already knows this old beast is active but I just wanted to let you know that the lava is flowing. Thanks to the clear weather we were able to watch this.
