Re: Fire Heat VIIRS I-Band Around Mt Sanford w/out Seismic Activity
Hi Ronald, Thanks for reaching out. I took a look at the thermal anomaly data and Suomi NPP images of Mt Sanford on Jun 10 and 11. I think the hot pixels from Jun 10 are likely some kind of artifact, especially given that the image was rather cloudy. Nothing of note is visible on Jun 11. In any case, we don't have any indications of volcanic activity at Mt Sanford! Hope that's helpful. Abbey Nastan AVO Staff ---------- As the local Slana Emergency Services coordinator, inquiring about and currently monitoring detected Heat Band points surrounding the head (caldera?) of the Mount Sanford Glacier without associated proximal seismic activity on June 10, 2023. Can provide a screen shot. I understand all volcanoes within the Wrangell-St Elias Range are inactive or dormant and there is no significant seismic activity proximal to the WSE Range. Just following up on a possibly spurious wildland fire observation. https://blm-egis.maps.arcgis.com/apps/instant/portfolio/index.html?appid=484... Warm Regards, Ronald Paciorek 259.5181
