[Public Email] Earthquake swarm between Aniakchak and Yantarni
--------------------------------------------------------------- The following message was sent to you via AVO Web Email System: --------------------------------------------------------------- Name: Matt Dotseth Email Address: mmdotseth@yahoo.com Subject: Earthquake swarm between Aniakchak and Yantarni Message: Hello, I write a geology blog and would like to know if you would be able to answer a question for me (I'd much rather get this info from the horse's mouth!). My Google Earth/USGS Real Time Quake plugin is showing a lot of quakes ranging from mag 4.5 to lower magnitudes at a shallwo depth between Aniakchak and Yantarni volcanoes in the Aleutian arc. Have you looked into this at all? Given the shallow depth, my understanding is that this could be related to magma dike intrusion. Has AVO or USGS looked at this series of quakes? Is it common for the area? Any info you have is greatly appreciated, you guys do some great work up there!
